Saint Clare's Infection Control Wall Panels

When working on active jobsites, especially hospitals, proper containment and infection controls measures must be taken. Traditionally, painted or plastic-wrapped drywall partitions are used to separate an occupied area from the construction area. Looking for a different solution, Bill Overton, senior superintendent at Ministry Saint Clare’s Expansion and Remodel project, found a new modular wall panel called STARC Systems (Simple Telescopic Airtight Reusable Containment).

The pre-finished, insulated metal panels provide an infection control system that is dust free, has a professional appearance, and is easy to clean. Additionally, the panels:

  • Reduce airborne noise by up to 50%
  • Can be reused
  • Meet/exceed ICRA Class IV requirements
  • Are easy to install

“This is just one of many innovative solutions for construction within an active hospital,” Bill Overton said. Currently, there is 300 feet of paneling at Saint Clare’s and before the project is finished there will be 500 feet of panels and doors.

The new system has worked so well, the panels are being used on other Mortenson projects.
