Going Modular
Designed for the business traveler and adventurer, citizenM takes a different spin on hospitality. The Dutch hotel company built its first modular hotel in Amsterdam in 2008 and partnered with Mortenson for their entrance into the North American west coast market. By prefabricating their modular room units off-site, the team could standardize the design and ensure the highest quality was achieved. Once the units are on site, the “lego-like” hotel blocks are efficiently stacked, leading to shorter schedules and less site disruption.
