Mortenson’s Cost Index Report for the first quarter of 2016 in the Seattle region is now available for download along with a special edition of our new podcast “Building What’s Next,” featuring Mark Wagner, our Seattle office’s Chief Estimator.
The report identifies a boom in construction in the Seattle area, and signals key areas for customers to pay attention to as their projects progress. “There are currently 63 tower cranes on the horizon in Seattle,” according to Wagner. “It’s a good representation of the fact that there isn’t a lot of capacity in the market, which tells us we’re going to pay more for some things.” Mortenson expects to see around a 4.5 percent annualized cost increase in Seattle, where the Pacific Northwest region is trending up at 3.5 percent.
