Lean Innovation Story – Support Slab Practice

Mortenson’s self-perform scope of work on the Seattle Seawall included the placement of concrete support slabs in a marine environment, which we had not performed before. In addition, the marine concrete mix was being used for the first time. Finally, the project was under a very tight schedule, so any delay in placing slabs would have a significant schedule impact. As a result, this self-perform scope of work carried significant risks.
