Alamo 4 Solar Project / Bracketville, TX
How do you use power delivery infrastructure to create jobs?
Mortenson was selected as an EPC contractor to build five, utility-scale solar projects totaling 400 MWdc over a three-year period in the San Antonio, Texas area for the first-time customer, OCI Solar Power. The San Antonio-based project owner and developer was responsible for delivering the solar-generated energy to CPS Energy. The projects generate enough electricity to power approximately 97,000 homes. In addition to delivering energy, OCI’s project team created 800 new energy-related jobs within the San Antonio area. The 48 MWdc Alamo 4 solar project was the foundational project that established the four-project portfolio master agreement to construct Alamo 3, 5, 6, and 7 for OCI Solar Power. The team designed the solar systems for Alamo 4 and construction activities began in December 2013. Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) was used to evaluate the site’s existing slopes to optimize grading and maximize the arrays built. Mortenson’s high voltage transmission group was responsible for the design and construction of the project’s 138kV substation.
