Dan Ryan Welcome to Mortenson Properties, Inc.

Mortenson Properties, Inc. (MPI) has announced the addition of Dan Ryan as Managing Director. In this role, Ryan will have responsibility for all aspects of MPI’s activities, from new real estate investments to asset management, and enabling the next phase of real estate asset growth. MPI is the real estate equity ownership arm in the Mortenson family portfolio of companies and is an important partner in offering comprehensive real estate solutions to a broad range of customers in the marketplace. MPI is an integrated solutions provider alongside M.A. Mortenson Company which provides design, construction, and development to the commercial, institutional, and energy sectors across the U.S.

"I am very pleased to be joining the Mortenson real estate family and excited to have the opportunity to work alongside Sheryl Van Anne, Mortenson’s vice president general manager in Chicago, to provide comprehensive real estate solutions for the marketplace," said Dan Ryan.

Dan Ryan brings nearly three decades of commercial real estate experience to his new role at Mortenson. Prior to joining MPI, he spent 28 years at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Chicago, where he was most recently President, Central Region and was responsible for JLL’s markets’ teams and services across the Central United States — including brokerage (office, industrial, retail), property management, project and developmental services, and valuations. He was also accountable for the operations and business results in the Central Region and developed and implemented strategic initiatives, while maintaining and developing key client relationships with owners and occupiers of real estate.

“We have a deliberate, long-term strategy for Mortenson Properties, Inc.,” said David Mortenson, Chairman. “ Dan Ryan’s extensive leadership experience and business acumen is vital to helping us achieve our goals. His vision as an industry leader and relationships with key stakeholders will enable the next level of company growth that we know is possible. We are excited to welcome him to our leadership team.”

MPI’s real estate portfolio is currently over five million square feet with assets in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain states. Focused on acquisitions and new development, MPI’s portfolio has grown quickly in industrial, life sciences, and medical office. This portfolio includes developments like Northern Stacks, a 1.7 million square foot industrial park in Fridley, Minn. built on an EPA Superfund site and is the largest in-fill commercial redevelopment in Minnesota; Discovery Square a multi-building life science campus that is part of the Mayo Clinic’s Destination Medical Center initiative in Rochester, Minn.; and a portfolio of medical office buildings for some of the region’s largest health care systems.

Dan Ryan is a licensed Illinois real estate broker, a member of the Chicago Economic Club, a past Board Member of the Chicago Executives’ Club, and World Business Chicago. He serves on the alumni board of directors of the Cara Program, served as Honorary Chair of the 2022 American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast, and in 2010, received the Spirit of Life Award from the Chicago Construction and Real Estate Council of City of Hope.
