Jefferson Lab Technology And Engineering Development Facility

What does the finished construction of a technology and engineering development facility look like?

The Technology and Engineering Development Facility (TEDF) at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) in Newport News, Virginia, provides an upgraded and expanded engineering facility to support DOE projects. It included the renovation of the existing Test Lab Building 58, a 30,000 square foot addition to Building 58, and a new 70,000 square-foot Technology and Engineering Development (TED) Building. The first floor of the TED building has high and low bay space for engineering division functions, including an electrical shop, a vacuum assembly and pump repair area, a cryogenic fabrication shop, workspaces for the Physics Division, as well as shared machine and fabrication shops for the three Physics Halls. The second floor has a core area of enclosed offices and an open office and workstation area to encourage teamwork and communication.
