White Tank Branch Library and Nature Center / Waddell, AZ
How do you create a sustainable facility that operates nearly net zero all year round?
The White Tank Branch Library and Nature Center, which has a collection capacity of 35,000 items and more than 40 public computers, includes areas for adults, children and teens, including private study rooms, a cafe and exterior patio, plus a Park Nature Center. A LEED certified platinum facility, the library produces some of its electricity on-site due to implementation of a photo-voltaic system that converts solar radiation into direct current electricity.
