Project Buyer I
SUMMARY
Responsible for working with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery time
Work with managers to develop profitable purchasing strategies and propose procurement solutions that deliver value and reduce risk
Create and maintain procurement logs for each supported operating group project
Negotiate with suppliers to purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, and specification requirements
Negotiate and prepare purchase agreements and purchase orders. Ensure suppliers adhere to contractual terms and conditions, including timeliness and quality standards
Analyze individual markets, handle budget and increase margin on a regular basis, track trends in purchasing habits
Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
Visit project site to better understand project team challenges and develop streamlined procurement processes to be implemented
Lead special projects for team as requested
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
Strong customer service and analytical skills
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
Minimum 2 years of experience
Current driver’s license

The base pay range for this role is $67,300 - $90,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
