Project Finance Operations Manager
SUMMARY
Mortenson is looking to add a Project Finance Operations (PFO) Manager. This position is based in our Milwaukee, WI office. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of Project Finance Operations Accountants for multiple operating groups, managing relationships with key business stakeholders, and ensuring key project finance operations metrics are met and that all risk and issues are sufficiently mitigated.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and develop a team of PFO Accountants and Supervisors who support the finance and accounting needs of multiple project teams managing multi-year construction projects ranging in size from $2M to $200M+
Understanding of scope and areas of work included within contracts, as well as other contractual requirements to advise PFO accountants and project teams on the best methods for project setup in the financial applications.
Oversee the preparation of monthly project billings, in accordance with contractual requirements for both cost based and fixed price contracts.
Ensure that all costs are billed on a timely basis.
Resolve customer or project team billing issues as they arise.
Assist group leadership in the timely collection of contract billings
Follow up customer contacts as requested and monitor the overall cash position of projects to ensure favorable cash flow
Gain an understanding of the components of labor cost in the geographic areas where the operating group's projects are located.
Oversee the timely processing of subcontractor and material supplier applications for payment.
Ensure that all project costs are processed accurately and timely
Understand the sales and use tax rules for jurisdictions where projects are located; working with corporate tax team to research tax implications when we are entering new operating geographies
Provide assistance to project teams in following various contractual requirements including, but not limited to, certified payroll reporting, minority participation reporting, owner-controlled insurance programs and specialized reporting for Federal government projects.
Assist the project managers and the PFO accountants in the preparation of monthly project financial projections.
Represent the best interests of the Company in working with project auditors; Assist as requested with annual and special audit situations
Active Participant in Group Financial Reviews
Other duties as assigned and requested by Operating Group leadership, Finance leadership, or Senior Leadership Team.
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience
Minimum seven years prior Finance experience
Experience with Microsoft Excel and ERP applications
Construction industry exposure is beneficial, not required

The base pay range for this role is $116,300 - $174,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
