SUMMARY
The Strategy Analyst is responsible for supporting the Strategic Planning and Development team in identifying, analyzing, and articulating strategic opportunities and challenges for the organization. Research and analyze data to inform organizational decision-making on new markets, business expansion, and internal strategy practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support strategic projects, including M&A assessments, strategic partnerships, and new business opportunities
Assist in the development and refinement of strategic plans, annual strategic reviews, and long-term growth initiatives
Perform key internal and external research and analysis at the direction of Strategy leadership, including:
Collaborating with operating, service and business service groups to gather insights, understand the business challenge, and align to business objectives
Conducting market, competitor, and industry research to identify trends and implications for the business
Analyze financial and operational data to support strategic initiatives and business cases
Extract information from internal systems, industry reports, public information, field reports, and other data sources to identify correlations and translate them into internal, operational insights
Consume and consolidate large amounts of data into centralized, sustainable, and repeatable measurements
Prepare clear and influential presentations, reports, and dashboards for senior leadership at the direction of strategy leadership
Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or related field or equivalent experience
Minimum three years of related experience in consulting, strategy, or related analytical roles
Ability to travel approximately 25%
Experience with analytics and visualization tools
Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI
Strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality work by agreed upon deadlines
Strong ability to concisely present and explain large amounts of information
Ability to think analytically with great attention to detail
Ability to follow complex instructions
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven understanding of business operations
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

The base pay range for this role is $75,000 - $113,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
