Women Leaders Ranked Among ENR Southwest’s Top Young Professional

Each year, Engineering News-Record Southwest honors 20 top young professionals in the region’s architecture, engineering and construction fields for their industry education, experience and leadership, in addition to their community service and involvement.

Amongst submissions from Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico, we are proud to congratulate two of our team members, Project Manager Alicia Duffy and Estimator Karla Yanni, on being recognized as two of Engineering News-Record Southwest’s 2021 Top Young Professionals!

A little bit more about Alicia and Karla:

  • Alicia Duffy, Project Manager: Alicia has proven to be a bold leader as her spirit to lead, innovate and serve her community has been noticed throughout the company and among our customers. Over her last 6+ years with Mortenson, Alicia was integral in pioneering the development and implementation of the company's 5S program. 5S is a process to reduce waste, improve safety and optimize productivity through maintaining an orderly workplace and using visual cues to achieve more consistent operational results. Additionally, Alicia's passion for sustainability and innovation is highlighted by her leadership in the Phoenix team's innovation challenge to develop solutions to foster safer, cleaner and more productive job sites.
  • Karla Yanni, Estimator: Since joining Mortenson in 2015, Karla has been integral in not only optimizing customers’ budgets and advancing the company's estimating department and trade partner base, but she has also made a concentrated focus to mentoring those around her and cultivating a culture of caring at all levels. Karla is founder of I.D.E.A. (Inclusion Diversity Equity Allies) affinity group. The team focuses on creating awareness, advocacy and action that offers diversity, equity and inclusion. Additionally, Karla has led numerous efforts in engaging with the local, Phoenix community and giving back to those around her.
