Mortenson served as the balance of plant (BOP) and battery installation contractor for the Chisholm Grid Energy Storage project in Fort Worth, Texas. The project consists of a 100 MW containerized battery energy storage system and supporting power delivery infrastructure designed as a standalone resource in the ERCOT wholesale electricity market.
Customer Impact
Mortenson delivered the infrastructure and battery installation required for the 100 MW facility. At the start of construction, Chisholm Grid was identified as the largest standalone energy storage project under construction in the United States outside of California.

Mortenson delivered the balance of plant infrastructure and battery installation for the 100 MW Chisholm Grid Energy Storage facility. The scope included the energy storage and power delivery systems required to support the standalone battery facility and its participation in the ERCOT wholesale electricity market.
Construction Execution
Following full notice to proceed in August 2020, Mortenson began construction of the balance of plant and high-voltage transmission infrastructure. Approximately 50 personnel were expected onsite at peak construction, with Dallas-Fort Worth-based trade partners supporting construction activities.
