Integrated Construction Technician I

SUMMARY  

BLUvera, Mortenson’s vertically integrated manufacturing and fabrication affiliate, is currently seeking an Integrated Construction Technician I that will be responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings, modeling, and drafting support for commercial construction and manufacturing projects, including wall panels, floor systems, MEP systems and components, equipment installation details, production tooling, and fabrication packages. Performs a broad scope of CADD drafting assignments of basic difficulty to support manufacturing, engineering, and production operations.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide drafting and modelling support for manufacturing and construction deliverables 
    • Support proposals, estimating, procurement, production planning, and construction packages for commercial construction components. 

    • Prepare shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly details for walls, floors, roofs, MEP assemblies, prefabricated construction components and equipment installations. 

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and design teams 
    • Coordinate drawing requirements with structural, architectural, and MEP engineers, production supervisors, and design managers. 

    • Align drafting deliverables with manufacturing capabilities, tolerances, and production workflow. 

    • Meet drafting schedule expectations and regularly provide status updates to project engineering. 

  • Assist in preparing engineering and fabrication drawing sets which include: 
    • Modular component layouts (wall, floor, roof, ceiling assemblies) 

    • Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing routing drawings 

    • Shop fabrication drawings for prefabricated construction components 

    • Plan views, sections, elevations, and fabrication details 

    • Bills of materials (BOMs) for procurement and manufacturing 

    • Shipping, Logistics, Truck Stacking diagrams 

  • Update drawing logs, version control, standards compliance, and CAD databases. 
  • Assist in preparing design packages required for manufacturing readiness. 
  • Provide production ready drawing sets that reflect actual manufactured components and assembly processes. 
  • Work closely with VDC, Design Phase Managers, QA/QC teams, and factory supervisors to ensure drawing accuracy, manufacturability and alignment with overall project requirements. 
  • Follow established company and project drafting standards, templates, and workflows. 
  • Maintain high accuracy in dimensions, tolerances, and construction detailing. 
  • Manage assigned drafting tasks, anticipate needs, and meet deadlines. 
  • Produce clear markups, redlines, and fabrication sketches from verbal or written direction. 
  • Adhere to Mortenson/BLUvera drawing protocols, modeling standards, and file structure requirements. 
  • Apply best practices for commercial manufacturing accuracy and compliance with applicable codes. 
  • Modify existing drawings and create new ones from instructions, sketches, or engineering markups. 
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse team members across engineering, production, quality, and field operations. 
  • All other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Two-year technical degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, or related field. 
  • Associate degree in CADD or BIM technologies preferred or minimum two years producing electronic documents for construction. 
  • Experience with modular, panelized, or commercial construction drafting is a plus. 
  • High Level Competency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam Revu. 
  • Familiarity with and/or ability to quickly learn software packages including but not limited to: FrameCAD, Revizto, Autodesk Point Layout. 
  • Understanding of architectural, structural, and MEP drafting fundamentals for commercial construction. 
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes, drafting standards, and engineering policies. 
  • Familiarity with manufacturing workflows, modular construction, or prefabrication (preferred). 
  • Familiarity with parametric analysis solutions (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Solibri). (preferred) 
  • Proficient in CADD theories, principles, and file management. 
  • Strong competence in computer aided design tools and Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Ability to manage multiple drafting assignments with shifting priorities in a production environment. 
  • Strong communication, active listening skills, and willingness to receive/offer feedback. 
  • Ability to travel up to 5% (occasional field or factory support).

The base pay range for this role is $22.04 - $32.50. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%). If applicable: This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.  

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
