SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an Environmental Specialist with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Environmental Specialist will support Mortenson's environmental management efforts for Civil projects throughout North America, providing review of environmental documentation, and advising on environmental matters in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement Mortenson’s environmental program for simple to moderately complex project sites and promulgate environmental compliance of construction activities. Essential requirements:
Develop site specific environmental plans and activities
Review environmental submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings
Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
Develop and lead environmental orientation and training programs
Lead onsite best management practices for environmental management
Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures and conduct work site environmental inspections
Collaborate with customers on regulatory (Federal, State, Provincial and local) reporting and documentation requirements
Maintain operational knowledge of environmental issues in construction, and other applicable standards, regulations, laws, and procedures
Interface with customer’s environmental personnel, environmental consultants, regulatory representatives, etc.
Assist in the development company-wide Environmental Management supportive programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, or related field
Minimum of four years related experience
Significant experience with two or more of the following areas: erosion prevention and sediment control, storm water pollution prevention plans, spill prevention controls and countermeasures (SPCC), aquatic resources, endangered species
Strong understanding of Federal, State, Provincial and local laws, policies and procedures
A well-organized and self-directed individual who is collaborative and a team player
Ability to interact with consultants and governmental agencies
Ability to use PC, tablets and widely used software packages, e.g., spreadsheets (Excel), word processing (MS Word)
Current driver’s license
Able to travel up to 50%

The base pay range for this role is $87,200 MIN - $117,700 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
