Electrical Estimator II

 SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a MEP- Electrical Estimator II that will be responsible for leading estimating efforts of gathering, calculating, and compiling data to produce project estimates for mid-sized projects, multiple small projects or in support of a lead estimator on larger projects. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Organize, plan, and schedule for estimate preparation, facilitating necessary meetings 

  • Prepare comprehensive and reliable estimates, incorporating all relevant information 

  • Collaborate with project team to determine trade partner strategy and prepare invitations to bid/budget 

  • Obtain relevant documents, including BIM, to complete quantity survey and understand project scope 

  • Utilize cost history to inform scope, pricing, and productivities 

  • Work with Project Sponsor and Estimating Leaders to ensure estimates meet margin goals and prepare margin plan for approval 

  • Prepare for and participate in Bid Day or presentation to owner 

  • Build and maintain relationships with Operations Personnel, design partners, trade partners, and owners 

  • Develop industry knowledge base through available resources, trade journals, conferences, and projects 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience 

  • Minimum three years construction industry experience 

  • Perform quantity survey for a MEPT system and basic layouts of devices and branch runouts 

  • Identify and create value analysis for a project 

  • Use Cortex to evaluate and validate estimates 

  • Understand productivity (MCA/SMACNA/NECA) and apply it to estimated labor 

  • Identify and coordinate scopes of work outside of MEPT necessary for MEPT system installation 

  • Contact and scope trade partners and equipment vendors for pricing and delivery schedules 

  • Build and maintain relationships with trade partners and create a list of potential partners for assigned projects

The base pay range for this role is $90,300 MIN - $121,900 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). 

 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
