SUMMARY 

Mortenson is currently seeking a Marketing Specialist who will be a creative and strategic driver for our Data Center business, responsible for translating complex technical milestones into compelling narratives that resonate with clients, leadership, and internal teams. This role combines brand advocacy, pursuit support, and event execution to elevate our market position and strengthen our internal culture. 

Accepted locations: Denver, CO and Amarillo, TX 

 

Core Responsibilities 

Strategic Communication & Storytelling 

  • Narrative Development: Translate complex data center construction milestones 

  • Core and industry developments into clear, engaging stories for both internal and external audiences. 

  • Message Alignment: Shape and refine messaging that aligns with the broader business priorities, growth strategy, and market positioning. 

  • Internal Engagement: Create communications and culture-building initiatives (newsletters, leadership messaging, and town halls) that connect dispersed, fast-moving teams. 

Pursuit Support & Business Development 

  • Winning Work: Partner with pursuit teams to support proposal development through high-quality writing, editing, and formatting. 

  • Technical Articulation: Refine pursuit content to clearly communicate technical differentiators, value propositions, and our competitive edge. 

  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to annual business planning efforts and market-specific initiatives to drive long-term growth. 

Content Ownership & Design 

  • Multi-Channel Execution: Own the end-to-end creation (writing and design) of content for social media, digital assets, print collateral, and professional presentations. 

  • Visual Excellence: Act as a brand steward by leveraging Adobe Creative Cloud to turn rough concepts into polished, professional visuals that adhere to company standards. 

  • Tone & Clarity: Ensure all collateral maintains a consistent voice, high level of clarity, and a "think outside the box" creative approach. 

Event Strategy & Milestone Execution 

  • High-Visibility Events: Lead the planning and execution of jobsite events, including groundbreakings, topping-out ceremonies, and client site visits. 

  • Internal Gatherings: Support the messaging, creative direction, and logistics for annual company meetings and team appreciation moments. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Graphic Design, or associated degree   

  • Two to four years’ experience in a graphic design and marketing role  

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), and other communications software  

  • Experience writing internal and external communications  

  • Capability to coordinate proposals and other communications projects independently with multiple stakeholders in a deadline driven environment

The base pay range for this role is $68,700 MIN - $92,800 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).  

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
