Carpenter Foreman

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for providing oversight to multiple crews on the project. Work with subcontractors on scheduling and managing the crew’s work tasks. Ensure the project's quality and safety and ensure that all necessary materials are available when needed.

The base compensation range for this role is $34-44 per hour. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors, including an individual’s knowledge, skill, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

 

  1. Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by their crew

  2. Examine blueprints to determine the dimensions of structure

  3. Lay out floor-plan and cabinetwork using tape, framing square and calipers

  4. Select materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets of wood or plastic, paneling, and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance

  5. Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly and erection of structure

  6. Assign workers to such tasks as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring

  7. Inspect work performed by subcontractors including ductwork, wiring and pipe installations, to ensure conformance with specifications

  8. Install doors, builds stairs and lays hardwood floors

  9. Shooting grades and elevations

  10. Unload, handle, stockpile and erect of all pre-fabricated materials

  11. Order necessary materials in advance or before running out of supplies

  12. Concrete and rough carpentry:

    1. Hand set walls

    2. Footings

    3. Set gang wall forms

    4. Structural concrete decks

    5. Slab on metal deck and grade

    6. Concrete columns

    7. Drywall

  13. Finish carpentry, doors and hardware

    1. Set door frames, hang doors, and install hardware

    2. Finish carpentry: install toilet accessories, hand rails, corner guards, toilet partitions, lockers, upper cabinets, lower cabinets, countertops, wall paneling systems, coffered ceiling systems and running trim

  14. Train craft and foreman on job procedures

  15. Supervise crews – daily progress checks, verifying safety, quality and productivity

  16. Assign workers to required task for the day

  17. Verify timecards are filled out correctly at the end of the day

  18. Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance

  19. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

  20. All other duties as assigned

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  2. Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams

  3. Some ability to read plans

  4. Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems

  5. Strong teamwork orientation

  7. Detail orientation

  8. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

A. Minimum 6 year of related experience
