Sales Data Analyst

Summary: 

Mortenson’s Sales Process, Data & Technology team is seeking a Sales Data Analyst to perform corporate sales reporting, analysis, and forecasting. This role is responsible for gathering and interpreting data, evaluating customer and market trends, and delivering insights that help operating groups and corporate leaders make informed business decisions. Expertise in Power BI is essential, and experience with Microsoft Fabric is preferred as we modernize our analytics environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Compile, analyze, and report sales performance, win rates, and customer experience results for company leaders, business unit leaders, and sales teams. 
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards that clearly communicate performance trends and actionable insights. 
  • Use Power BI and (preferably) Microsoft Fabric capabilities to enhance data modeling, automation, and visualization. 
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and ensure integrity of forecasting models. 
  • Monitor changes in the sales pipeline and proactively communicate material impacts to leadership. 
  • Ensure data quality and accuracy across sales systems, datasets, and reporting tools. 
  • Prepare quarterly sales and customer experience reporting for the Board of Directors and senior leadership. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline reporting and analytics workflows. 
  • Track customer and market trends to support strategic decision-making. 
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and deliver clear, concise reports. 
  • Support annual business planning by providing business unit KPIs, forecasts, and goal models. 
  • Assess opportunities for leveraging predictive analytics and AI tools to enhance forecasting and insights. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, or related fields. 
  • 3+ years of experience working with complex datasets (preferred). 
  • Demonstrated experience using Power BI for reporting and analytics (required). 
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (preferred). 
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Advanced proficiency with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard design. 
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Fabric. 
  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into meaningful, actionable insights. 
  • Proficiency with Excel and experience working with databases or data management systems. 
  • Curiosity and initiative to explore data, identify trends, and uncover opportunities. 
  • Clear and effective communication skills to present insights to sales and corporate leaders. 
  • Familiarity with financial concepts and modeling. 
  • Desire to develop a deep understanding of Mortenson’s customers, markets, and sales strategies. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The base pay range for this role is $72,900 - $109,400.(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
