SUMMARY
The Senior Manager of Strategy plays a key role in supporting strategic planning, market analysis, and business development efforts. This position contributes to the identification of growth opportunities, supports strategic initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to evaluate and advance business priorities. The role involves structured problem-solving, research, and analysis to inform decision-making across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
5–7 or more years of professional experience in strategy, corporate development, business development, or strategic marketing.
Experience leading projects or small teams, with demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives.
Exposure to strategy consulting, corporate development, or venture capital/private equity (preferred but not required).
Industry experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, or real estate is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with financial modeling and opportunity assessment.
Familiarity with strategic frameworks and tools used to evaluate business opportunities and market trends.
Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
Understands market dynamics and emerging trends. Supports the development of strategic initiatives that align with organizational goals and contribute to long-term success.
Demonstrates curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive approach to identifying growth opportunities. Navigates ambiguity with resilience and a bias for action.
Contributes fresh ideas and challenges conventional thinking in a constructive manner. Applies data and insights to uncover new approaches that add value.
Evaluates information critically and conceptually to support sound recommendations. Comfortable balancing analysis with timely action in dynamic environments.
Maintains an understanding of customer needs and preferences. Supports efforts to incorporate customer feedback into strategic planning and execution.
Ability to travel up to 30%.

The base pay range for this role is $134,300 - $201,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
