Mortenson is currently seeking a Sustainability Manager that will provide management, leadership, direction, and support of Mortenson’s sustainability agenda. The role guides cross functional teams and external partners, establishes expectations for sustainability performance, drives sustainability initiatives, and oversees the integrity of environmental data used for reporting and decision making.
Responsibilities
Support the organization’s sustainability strategy and related initiatives.
Execute sustainability programs effectively.
Ensure alignment between strategic actions and overall business objectives.
Provide team members with education, training, and hands-on demonstrations.
Establish and monitor key sustainability goals.
Oversee and manage relevant reporting metrics.
Facilitate continuous improvement across sustainability efforts.
Collaborate with various business units on sustainability-related projects.
Partner with stakeholders in business development, customer requirements, and trade partner engagement as appropriate.
Work collaboratively to maintain current knowledge of sustainability standards, evolving industry trends, and green building rating systems.
Professionalism and strong customer service skills.
Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred eight years of related experience or greater.
Preferred experience with industry sustainability rating systems (i.e. LEED, WELL, B3, etc.).
Current driver’s license.
Ability to travel up to 50%.

The base pay range for this role is $116,300 MIN - $174,500 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
