SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced, high level Market Director who will be responsible for providing overall ownership for a key market or markets including business development, successful customer relations, strategic and operational direction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and execute strategies to grow a successful business within key markets
- Understand market priorities, insights, influences, and potential disruptors
- Analyze market trends and develop plans for understanding customers and winning work
- Connect market needs and goals to Mortenson’s offerings to identify value for potential customers
- Drive strategic business development within specific markets, aligned with broader company strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with targeted customers, design professionals, partner companies, community leaders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, and engineering firms
- Leverage Mortenson’s full portfolio of customer solutions, including development, planning, building effectiveness analysis, and DAS
- Establish and maintain successful customer and community relationships within specific markets
- Provide high-level insight and value to customers based on market analysis
- Conduct key customer visits throughout projects, ensuring commitments are met and issues resolved
- Act as the primary customer contact for projects within the market
- Maintain customer relationships to stay informed on current and future projects
- Develop talent to support market growth and long-term strategic objectives
- Mentor and manage team members, fostering a team environment and developing future career opportunities
- Build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Lead by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance effectively
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 15 years prior experience on management of large projects
- Ability to analyze market trends and develop strategies to create business within a market
- Knowledge of Mortenson’s array of offerings and capabilities, e.g., development, planning, etc.
- Shown positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple projects
- Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback

- Ability to travel up to 75%
- Current driver’s license

The base pay range for this role is $209,000 MIN - $301,400 MAX. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
