Position Summary 

Vermilion is seeking a Full-time Analyst Intern who will support all phases of investing including due diligence, evaluation, execution, monitoring and managing of portfolio investments. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a high performer who aligns with Vermilion’s values and embraces a long-term perspective on value creation, impact investing and building a generational portfolio. The Analyst will be a key member of the investment team and will work in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment. 

 

Position Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota (hybrid option available) 

Note: In-line with our continuous improvement mindset, the Analyst Intern will receive on-going feedback as well as a complete review. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Screen investment opportunities, support diligence processes and evaluate critical components of potential investments 

  • Construct and review detailed financial and operating models 

  • Conduct research and analysis on industry dynamics, competitive profiles, target profiling, etc. to support deal opportunities 

  • Support investment professionals with business development efforts 

  • Compose internal deal memorandums, term sheets and letters of intent 

  • Assist portfolio companies with financial and operating analyses as needed to achieve their growth objectives 

     

Skills and Requirements 

The ideal candidate will be a purpose-driven, motivated team player who can function in an entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision. This person will embrace a long-term perspective on value creation and prioritizes the beneficial impact that businesses can have. They will have demonstrated an ability to build enduring relationships and work with all levels of an organization. They will also bring a strong process orientation to their work. Additional qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree, sophomore standing preferred 

  • Strong academic achievement 

  • Mature, professional candidate who is a self-starter 

  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and enthusiasm for the role 

  • Excellent financial modeling, Excel and Powerpoint skills 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Knowledge of and/or passion for using investing to engender beneficial impact 

  • Comfort with a small, fast-paced organization with an emphasis on teamwork, humility, stewardship and a commitment to doing the better thing
