How do you build the navy’s single largest hangar facility in the world?
The NAVFAC Type II Hangar and Aircraft Parking Apron is the Navy’s single largest hangar facility. This project included the design and construction of a new 277,000 SF aircraft maintenance hangar and extensive related site development, including over one million SF of airfield paving. The facility provides operations and administrative office space, maintenance shops, and aircraft maintenance bays for six Navy aviation squadrons while providing space for simultaneous maintenance activities on seven C-130 and P-3 aircraft. The project was designed and constructed to Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection requirements and has been certified LEED® Silver by the U.S. Green Building Council.
