University of Minnesota McNamara Alumni Center

Uniting history with iconic architecture.

The McNamara Alumni Center at the University of Minnesota is a 250,000 square foot facility with six floors of office space for University-related tenants. The privately-funded building features a Minnesotan landscape, culture, and tradition. Its rectangular “office tower” is uniquely clad with a shingled copper system that will develop an attractive patina over time. Inside, a monumental atrium referred to as the “Geode” creates assembly space and houses a historic arch from the old Gopher Memorial Stadium. The center ultimately received a Consulting Engineer's Council of Minnesota “Grand Award.”
