Shawn Radford

Superintendent | Seattle

Shawn Radford brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his role as Superintendent. His journey began in 2005 with the Carpenters Union, where he spent nearly a decade mastering the fundamentals of building and craftsmanship. In 2014, Shawn joined Mortenson on the Elliott Bay Seawall project—his first assignment with the company—as a journeyman carpenter. His strong work ethic and ability to lead by example quickly earned him promotions to foreman and then superintendent. He now oversees complex projects from start to finish across various markets including aviation, higher education, and private development.

As a Superintendent, Shawn focuses on disruption avoidance planning to keep projects on schedule and minimize impacts for clients and communities. His certifications—CESCL, NFPA 70E, and OSHA 30—reinforce his unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence.

For Shawn, the most rewarding part of his role is the satisfaction of building something that will stand for generations and his daily interactions with people from different trades, industries, and backgrounds. He thrives in environments where teamwork and problem-solving are essential, and he values the relationships built along the way. Looking ahead, Shawn is excited about the role of AI and emerging technologies in construction and how they will improve efficiency and innovation across the industry.

Beyond his project responsibilities, Shawn actively contributes to community and industry outreach. He volunteers annually with NAIOP community enhancement projects and participates in Construction Inclusion Week, visiting schools like Parkside Elementary to inspire future builders. Shawn enjoys applying his skills to home improvement projects, using the knowledge he’s gained to enhance his own living space. His personal mission statement— “Do the right thing”—guides his approach to both professional and personal challenges, ensuring integrity and thoughtful decision-making.
