SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Union Administrator that will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for identifying and remediating compliance risks, systemic issues, and recurring discrepancies, translating complex contractual requirements into standardized and scalable payroll and system processes. The position leads union setup and ongoing maintenance across payroll and HR systems, drives continuous improvement through automation and data quality enhancements, and acts as a trusted escalation point for Union Craft TMs and union representatives while maintaining strong internal controls and cross-functional partnerships.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide end‑to‑end oversight of monthly union reporting, ensuring accurate hours, classifications, wage rates, deductions, and benefit contributions in compliance with CBAs, PLAs, and local agreements.
Identify systemic issues, reporting gaps, and recurring discrepancies, leading enhancements that improve accuracy, automation, standardization, and data quality.
Proactively identify and remediate compliance risks related to classifications, rates, subsistence/per diem, deductions, discrepancies with CBA/Keyman agreements, journey person/apprentice ratios and system configuration in partnership with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Establish and maintain audit‑ready documentation, controls, and repeatable compliance processes; interpret CBAs and PLAs and translate contractual requirements into actionable guidance for Payroll, HRIS, and IT.
Provide senior SME leadership for union setup and ongoing maintenance—including rate tables, classifications, deductions, work rules, testing, intake, validation, production verification, and support for system enhancements, payroll transformations, and new or modified union agreements.

The base pay range for this role is $85,300 - $128,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). If applicable: This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
