The path to more meaningful benefits

Mortenson leadership continually evaluates how employment benefits are perceived and what benefits were most valuable through conversations with multiple stakeholders across the organization.

Non-union Craft benefit details

All Mortenson non-union Craft team members receive significant PTO and paid holidays, increased life insurance to 2x base salary, tuition reimbursement, free mental wellness resources and more as part of the current benefits package**.

Generous PTO and holiday schedule

Time off is the most popular benefit for Craft team members and we invest in an industry-leading time off package to ensure our team members have the time they need to rest, recharge and live their best lives. Currently, every non-union Mortenson Craft team member receives at least 10 days of PTO while also receiving:

  • 2 additional days of PTO after just 1 year of service and an additional 2 days for every 2 years after that date (up to 20 days of PTO)

As a result, craft team members will earn 18 days of PTO by the time they get to 7 years of service. This change, combined with including rehire service, will ensure more time for team members to rest, recover, and spend time with loved ones so they can be at their best at home and at work.

Four week paid parental leave

As part of providing more time off for team members, the non-union Craft benefits package also provides 4 weeks (20 days) of paid parental leave, so new parents have more time to bond with their children.

All new parents with at least 6 months of Mortenson service will be able to take this time in 1-day increments during the first 6 months following a birth, adoption, or foster placement.

100% paid maternity leave

Birth mothers receive benefits that provide 12 weeks total maternity leave. In addition to the 4 weeks paid parental leave, birth mothers also receive 100% paid short-term disability maternity benefits following the birth of their child.

100% paid bereavement, military and jury duty leave

In the event of the death of an immediate family member, non-union Craft team members will be granted up to 5 days (40 hours) paid bereavement leave after six months of employment. A paid bereavement leave for absences up to one day (8 hours) will be granted for extended family members. Qualifying Craft team members now also have access to paid leave when fulfilling military and jury duty commitments.

Tuition reimbursement

To ensure qualified non-union Craft team members have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills, continuing education costs for related degrees and technical programs will be reimbursed.

No-cost short-term disability

Short-term disability benefits will now be 100% paid by Mortenson and no longer require an election. Team members with a short-term disability will receive 70% of their base pay for weeks 2 through 8 of their disability with continuing benefits for up to 26 weeks after exhausting a 6-month waiting period.

Market leading income protection

We invest in comprehensive insurance elements to help protect our team members and their loved ones against the “what ifs” in life. Between life insurance, AD&D, and business travel accident insurance, all team members will receive the following income protection benefits at no cost:

  • Life insurance - 2x annualized base salary
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance - 2x annualized base salary
  • Business Travel Accident insurance - 2x annualized base salary
New optional life insurance will also be available for purchase:
  • Up to $500,000 for team members
  • Up to $100,000 for team member spouses
  • $20,000 for each team member child

Free mental health care

Whatever they may be experiencing, we want our team members to feel supported so they don’t have to carry it alone. A confidential and anonymous mental health solution is provided at no cost for all team members, spouses, and dependents (age 6-26) when they need it — including free therapy, free coaching, personalized care and dedicated support, wellness exercises, work-life services, tobacco cessation resources and more.
