Shanae Phillips joins Mortenson as Community Affairs Manager for the Minneapolis office. She will serve as a resource in developing and executing the community participation strategy for our customers and our projects. Shanae will also focus on continuing our strong partnerships and relationships within the community to maintain Mortenson as a leader and trusted community partner.

“Community affairs is an essential part of our business strategy and a differentiator for Mortenson in the Twin Cities community,” said Lynn Littlejohn, Vice President, Community Affairs and Development. “Shanae brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role and will help Mortenson build upon our foundational goal of empowering the communities in which we live and work.”

Shanae graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She also holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Shanae most recently served as a policy aide and project coordinator with the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights. In that role, she worked with policy makers in a variety of areas, including community outreach, contract compliance, fair housing, economic development, and policing standards. Shanae also worked in higher education for several years as an assistant director in student services and as an educator with a college access non-profit.

Shanae is currently Chair of the College Possible Corps Alumni Council. “Without a doubt, college provided me with opportunities and experiences that shaped who I am today,” said Shanae. It’s unfortunate that many students and families lack the resources and support they need to pursue an education beyond high school. I’m so pleased to work with an organization that shares my commitment to equity and to producing outcomes that are changing lives and transforming our communities.”
