Mortenson Construction Expands Chicago Management Team with Promotions and New Hire

In response to strong growth and in recognition of key contributors to its success, Mortenson Construction recently has promoted multiple tenured leaders and recruited a new executive in Chicago.

Mortenson promoted Joe Krueger, who joined the company in 2005, to construction executive. After working on several hospital and data center projects, Krueger led the $160 million Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital expansion and renovation. Most recently, Krueger was a key member of the team that secured Mortenson’s selection as the builder of the new $485 million Mercyhealth hospital and medical office building in Rockford, IL, where he is the project leader.

Construction executive Andy Stapleton, a 20-year Mortenson veteran, has been promoted to general manager. In addition to leading the Mission Critical market sector and serving valued customers such as QTS, Stapleton will provide oversight to the business development, marketing, design phase, and virtual design and construction teams in Chicago. See Andy's Bio.

Greg Werner, vice president and general manager of Mortenson’s Chicago office, was recently promoted to senior vice president. Since opening the Chicago office 16 years ago, Werner has overseen more than $2.6 billion in projects while creating strong business partnerships with customers such as Allstate Insurance, United Airlines, Lurie Children’s Hospital and the University of Chicago. See Greg's Bio.

Mortenson also hired Vladimir Stevanovic as construction executive. Stevanovic has nearly 20 years of construction experience in healthcare projects and mixed-use developments for hospitality and retail. Some of his key experience includes projects at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago, the Westin Hotel & Convention Center in Lombard, IL, Wilson Yard in Chicago and numerous Target retail stores and distribution centers across the United States. Stevanovic will lead the Healthcare market sector.

“We have built a very talented team in Chicago that is consistently delivering successful projects for our customers. Andy and Joe have played vital roles in our growth and success, and in their new positions, will continue to provide critical leadership,” said Werner. “At the same time, Vlad brings new insight and experience to our management team and projects, helping ensure our customers’ experience is far superior to our competitors.”
