Arauco North America operates a panel board manufacturing facility in Albany, OR. Arauco holds a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit that covers three outfalls. Two outfalls flow directly to Murder Creek and the third outfall and process wastewater get pumped to International Paper’s (IP) Albany Paper Mill Site for wastewater treatment. This project includes the construction of a water treatment facility to treat high effluent BOD and other strict discharge requirements from a flakeboard manufacturing plant. Project elements included Primary Dissolved Air Flotation, MBR Biological Treatment System, dewatering, and biofiltration. This project is a negotiated contract with an integrated, collaborative partnership with the design engineer.
