Mortenson constructed Microsoft’s 555,000-square-foot West Campus Development, one of the largest contiguous corporate campuses in the world. The development includes two office buildings as well as extensive site infrastructure improvements, including new intersections, roads, and utilities that support the growing campus and surrounding community. The project scope encompassed developer space, general offices, cafeterias, conference rooms, collaboration areas, and circulation and support spaces, creating a flexible workplace environment designed to foster innovation, teamwork, and employee well-being.
Delivered on an accelerated 20-month schedule, the campus was carefully planned to balance functionality, sustainability, and connectivity. The highly interactive building and site design promote collaboration while improving the overall user experience for employees and visitors. Open gathering spaces, integrated amenities, and thoughtful circulation patterns support day-to-day engagement and productivity across the campus.
Sustainability was a key priority throughout the project. Studio B achieved LEED Silver Certification, while Studio A was designed to meet LEED Silver standards. Sustainable features include extensive daylighting, underfloor air and power distribution systems, water-use reduction strategies, enhanced commissioning, and accommodations for alternative transportation, including mass transit access and an on-site bicycle repair shop. The campus also promotes strong connections to the surrounding community through integrated site planning, pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and transportation improvements that enhance accessibility and long-term campus growth.
