Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater has long been recognized for delivering standout live music in the region. With the debut of The Rock Box, we reimagined what it means to enjoy a concert in this iconic setting at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains. Completed in May 2025, this $4.4 million renovation reflects our commitment to creating innovative spaces that enhance both the venue and the surrounding area.
The Rock Box is a sophisticated, open-air VIP lounge featuring 580 luxury suite seats, USB charging stations, mini fridges, and plush couches—all designed for comfort and convenience. ADA seating is thoughtfully integrated, underscoring Mortenson’s dedication to accessibility and inclusivity. Guests enjoy a unique vantage point and exclusive features, setting a new benchmark for concert hospitality.
“The Rock Box was designed to give guests a truly premium concert experience,” said Matt Hackman, Estimating Manager. “From the comfortable lounge seating to the integrated amenities, every detail was built with the fan in mind. We’re proud to help set a new standard for what VIP hospitality can look like at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater.”
Bringing The Rock Box to life demanded inventive approaches to navigate the amphitheater’s curved concrete structure and a compressed construction timeline. Collaborating closely with our Utah-based trade partners, our team’s strategic planning and adaptability enabled us to deliver seamlessly, despite the challenges of building in an open-air environment. By championing local talent and fostering strong partnerships, we reinforced community ties and supported regional economic growth.
At Mortenson, we’re dedicated to building venues that inspire engagement, foster relationships, and elevate every event. Our portfolio includes acclaimed entertainment destinations such as Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, where our Utah team played a key role in delivering the 65,000-seat stadium on time and under budget. By leading a group of more than 200 firms and leveraging digital modeling, we overcame a tight schedule and complex design challenges. The Rock Box stands as a testament to our drive for delivering innovative, people-focused spaces that leave a lasting impression on every guest and the Salt Lake City region.
