A leading American high-growth food company was experiencing competitive pressures and declining market shares for a new high growth food category. They started to make a more concerted effort to appeal to changing customer demographics and embarked on an ambitious strategy to advance their brand and marketing capabilities.

The Solution

Mortenson partnered with this client to advance their growth strategy and mission to attract future talent and consumers. An important aspect of that strategy involved the need to consolidate multiple disjointed offices, R&D spaces, small-batch processing facilities and test kitchens all under one roof. Our client selected a marquee location in downtown Minneapolis where they could consolidate all of their regional operations, create retail space that would attract prospective customers and future talent, and establish a test kitchen that would be the bench mark for future test kitchens that they would later build.   
The Mortenson team accelerated the original project schedule to accommodate client needs as requested and swiftly moved to solve unexpected challenges that arose such as the logistics and accommodation of foreign made equipment.

The Result

Mortenson helped this client create a branded showpiece in the heart of an urban center that was ideal for attracting new customers, recruiting top talent and expanding new product lines. Along with the designer, Mortenson helped create modern office space for this client, with work cafes and design details commonly found in creative agencies to support the brand’s goal of evolving and expanding.  This space is expected to serve as their home base for decades to come, and the test kitchen has indeed set a bench mark for future similar projects for the company.
