Joey Phinney

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Joey Phinney serves as a Senior Superintendent at Mortenson, where he brings a proven track record of leadership and hands-on expertise to every project. Since joining Mortenson in 2016, Joey has contributed to teams across Washington, Oregon, and California, gaining valuable experience in a variety of markets.
Joey holds several industry certifications, including OSHA 30, Rigger Bellperson, CPR, First Aid, MEPW lift certification, Forklift card, and CESEL. Throughout his career, he has applied his expertise to a wide range of projects, including Kaiser, Climate Pledge Arena, Providence Swedish, and Four106, each highlighting his strategic vision and practical leadership.
As a Senior Superintendent, Joey’s skill set encompasses logistics planning, scheduling, self-climbing core formwork, structural steel, self-perform concrete, tenant improvement buildouts, crane and hoist planning, crane erection and dismantle, and critical and engineered picks. He is passionate about coaching and mentoring others, finding the greatest satisfaction in seeing plans come to life through teamwork and execution. This dedication drives his purposeful approach to every project.
Looking ahead, Joey is excited about the continued innovation of systems and processes in the construction industry and the opportunity to help implement these advancements on future projects. He is also committed to giving back to the community, actively participating in NAIOP community enhancement projects alongside his colleagues.
Outside of work, Joey enjoys spending time with his family—whether exploring in their side-by-side, camping, or taking their boat out on the water
