
Kevin Boyce
Vice President, General Manager | Energy Storage
For nearly two decades, Kevin Boyce has been amassing a wealth of first-hand knowledge in the construction industry that has positioned him to lead Mortenson’s Energy Storage group as Vice President & General Manager.
Kevin began his career with Mortenson in 2008 as a Field Engineer on the Target Field project in Minneapolis. He spent his first eight years in the Minneapolis group, contributing to major projects including Orchestra Hall, Hampton Inn & Suites – Downtown, the Walker Art Center, and Westminster Presbyterian Church. He later relocated to Chicago to lead the new Mercyhealth Hospital project in Rockford, IL and subsequently joined the High Voltage Transmission team to deliver Mortenson’s first electric vehicle charging stations for the Chicago Transit Authority.
Kevin transitioned into the Energy Storage group and was promoted to Director of Operations in 2019 and Vice President of Operations in 2023. His strategic leadership in building new operational processes, procedures, and talent development practices has been pivotal in scaling the group from a sub-$5 million operation to becoming the market leader in the energy storage space. Through his vision and execution, Kevin has helped position Mortenson at the forefront of energy storage delivery, driving innovation and excellence in a rapidly evolving industry.
Known as an exceptional operator, Kevin brings a deep understanding of how Mortenson successfully delivers work while mitigating risk. He exemplifies the company’s values of “Do the Right Thing” and “We Before Me,” serving as a coach to team members and building trusted partnerships with suppliers and customers. His ability to solve complex problems and build scalable systems has been especially valuable in the fast-paced, start-up-like environment of Mortenson’s Energy Storage business.
Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from Michigan State University in 2007.
