Trent Sturos

Trent joined Mortenson in 2014 after earning his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. He began his career as an Electrical Engineer in the field with Power Delivery and spent the early part of his career traveling to projects across the country, gaining progressive responsibility through the project management career path. He eventually became a Project Executive, overseeing Mortenson’s portfolio of work for Xcel Energy, before being promoted to Director of Operations for Power Delivery in 2026.

Throughout his career in Power Delivery, Trent has gained experience across a diverse range of complex energy and infrastructure projects. Early in his career, he worked on wind projects, including the Highland Wind Farm in Iowa and Rush Creek Wind Farm in Colorado. His experience has since expanded across utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, data centers, and other power delivery projects, including Revolution Battery Storage and the Lebanon Data Center. His Electrical Engineering background, combined with years of project leadership experience, gives Trent a balanced technical and operational perspective on delivering complex electrical infrastructure.

Today, Trent serves as Director of Operations for Mortenson’s Power Delivery business. In partnership with other Power Delivery leaders, he helps oversee operations across the business, including a portfolio of projects as well as the group’s Quality and Electrical Support teams. Trent is passionate about creating opportunities for team members to learn, contribute, and grow, drawing from the mentorship and opportunities that have shaped his own career at Mortenson. He believes strong teams are built by giving people meaningful responsibility, supporting their development, and creating opportunities for them to take the next step in their careers.

Trent grew up in Metro Detroit as the oldest of six boys. Today, he and his wife have four children. Outside of work, Trent enjoys traveling with his family, golfing, biking, and following Detroit and University of Michigan sports.
