Senior Project Buyer

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Project Buyer – Wind that will develop relationships with suppliers, solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliers. 

Location: Minneapolis, MN

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
• Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action
• Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
• Track order status from the time of placing the order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
• Facilitate and run meetings internally and externally 
• Enter purchase agreements and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
• Enter purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
• Visit job sites or offices annually at a minimum to develop more effective working relationships
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or related discipline or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience 

• 4+ years of procurement experience and/or experience in a similar role 

• Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, materials, purchasing processes, and procurement procedures within renewable energy or utility-scale construction projects (preferred) 

• Project Management experience (preferred) 

• Understanding of the renewable energy construction industry, with wind energy experience strongly preferred 

• Experience sourcing, purchasing, or developing procurement strategies for structural steel, fabricated steel, or other critical construction commodities (preferred)

• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives, and drive results in a fast-paced project environment (preferred) 

• Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal, and communication skills 

• Strong customer service and analytical skills 

• Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback 

• Software experience 

• Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $85,300 - $128,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
