As a Project Financial Controls Coordinator, you will support project financial management and cost control activities by assisting project teams with Project Financial Management (PFM) systems, financial reporting, and administrative processes while contributing to the ongoing improvement of financial controls and tools.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support project financial management and cost control activities.

    • Assist with maintaining accurate project financial information within Project Financial Management (PFM) systems.

    • Support project teams in monitoring budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.

    • Assist with the administration of project financial controls and cost management processes.

    • Help prepare and distribute project financial reports and performance metrics.

    • Ensure financial data is maintained in accordance with Mortenson policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Provide support for Project Financial Management (PFM) systems and users.

    • Provide day-to-day support to project teams utilizing PFM systems and tools. 

    • Assist users with questions related to system functionality, processes, and best practices.

    • Maintain communication regarding system updates, enhancements, and available resources.

    • Support user adoption and consistent utilization of project financial management tools.

    • Escalate system or process issues to appropriate stakeholders as needed.

  • Support financial systems testing and process improvement initiatives.

    • Participate in testing system updates and enhancements to verify functionality and accuracy.

    • Document testing results, system issues, and enhancement requests.

    • Assist with recreating and documenting system errors to support issue resolution efforts.

    • Support implementation activities associated with financial system improvements.

    • Help identify opportunities to improve financial processes and system effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support operational excellence. 

    • Partner with operations, finance, accounting, and technology teams to support financial management initiatives.

    • Assist with maintaining process documentation, training materials, and user resources.

    • Contribute to initiatives that enhance project financial controls, reporting, and operational consistency.

    • Support ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of project financial management practices.

  • Effectively build relationships and work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and across all organizational levels.

  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Additional Information:

  • It is likely and anticipated for Mortenson team members to participate on traveling project assignments throughout their careers. Depending upon the operating group, frequent mobility may be required

  • We are currently seeking individuals to join us in 2027

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have previous related internship experience

  • Have a basic understanding of construction and generally accepted business practices

  • Demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills and show initiative and leadership

  • Are detail-oriented, organized, and can effectively handle multiple competing priorities

 

The base compensation range for this role is $28 - $38 per hour. This position is eligible for a potential annual bonus. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skill and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
