Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator I to join our Solar group with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Senior Estimator will provide leadership, coordination, and final preparation of full estimates on large and complex work projects.
Location: MN- Headquarters (onsite)
Travel: Quarterly project site visits
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead estimating efforts on large and complex projects
Provide conceptual, detailed, self-perform work estimates, and cost models
Organize, research, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and submission
Determine trade partners for bidding process and final estimate pricing
Assign work to estimating team and ensure accurate information is incorporated
Conduct quantity surveys, cost estimates, and review trade partner proposals
Research tax laws, collective bargaining agreements, and permits
Write and submit Requests for Information
Maintain regular communication with the estimating team, design phase, PV engineering and leadership
Ensure understanding of project scope and updates among team members and trade partners
Research and analyze historical project data for current applications
Assist in project scheduling
Lead, train, mentor, and manage estimators, including periodic feedback and performance evaluations
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
Minimum nine years construction industry experience (preferred experience in renewables, utilities, electrical contracting, large construction)
Six years construction estimating experience preferred
Organized and detailed with proven ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, leadership skills, and possess a builder mindset
Applicable mathematical and cost analysis skills
Proficient with building/estimating techniques and software: Excel, ISqFt, Bid2Win, Bluebeam, Google Earth, PowerPoint
Current driver’s license

The base pay range for this role is $128,200 - $192,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
