Quality Manager – Structured Cabling
SUMMARY:
Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Quality Manager in our Structured Cabling group who will lead, manage, monitor, and analyze the quality system on multiple projects. This individual will ensure necessary corrective and preventative actions are taken as well as identifying trends and making recommendations to ensure continued high performance and risk mitigation.
Location: TBD – location and project will be assigned. This role will require 100% travel on a rotational basis (on average it could be 3-4 weeks on a project site / about 1 week at home. This schedule is an estimate as it is also based on project need)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incorporate and lead Mortenson’s quality system across the operating group:
This will require working in close collaboration across the organization with design, operations, and project teams to lead planning, development, and implementation of the Quality Management Plan
Develop, assess, and report on quality performance metrics and analyze operational and quality data for trends to leverage for further improvement.
Manage Quality Events and corrective actions
Drive a performance-based culture designed to meet and exceed operating group and team goals while creating and fostering a healthy team environment
Support and coach team member learning and development in Quality.
Lead project Quality Assessments and/or train other team members to complete assessments.
General Quality System: Work closely with other Quality leaders and teams to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the Quality System.
Support the development and delivery of training for general Quality processes and technical overview scopes (Electrical, etc.).
Assist adjacent team members and discipline leads that play a critical role in Quality management—design phase and construction phase teams, Safety, Environmental, Lean, Commissioning, etc.
Monitor industry and market trends for best practices and/or risks that may require changes and/or improvements to the Quality Management System to address and/or leverage for future success and growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other science or mathematical related degree, or equivalent combination of education and technical/field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience
3+ years of experience within the design, engineering, construction industry, heavy industry, utilities and/or renewable energy generation
1+ year of experience leading a project or facility’s quality system or equivalent experience in incident and project management
Knowledge of one or more quality systems: i.e., Malcolm Baldridge, ISO 9000, Lean, Kaizen, Army Corps of Engineers, TQM, continuous improvement, value streams, etc.
Communicate professionally and effectively across multiple internal and external audiences
Build, motivate, and lead diverse and growing teams
Participate and contribute to industry standardization efforts
Evaluate business needs and develop appropriate solutions in an unconventional environment
Experience with issue management, and inspection of work put in place
Current driver’s license
Ability to travel up to 100%
Preferred Skills:
Auditor certification (CQM, CQI, ISO 9001, or ASQ)
Experience/knowledge of International Building Code (IBC), building envelope requirements, and/or National Electrical Code - NFPA 70
Experience/knowledge of renewable energy construction especially electrical infrastructure in generation and grid assets

The base compensation range for this role is: $100,100 - $150,200 Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%)
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skill, and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
