This past week, Mortenson had the opportunity to meet with students at Kirkwood Community College and Mount Vernon High School. Both groups were able to get a lesson in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), prefabrication and learn about construction career opportunities and resources. They also toured the $34 million Cornell College Russell Science Center project and met with team members to discuss construction careers and resources.
Construction Week was created to raise awareness of the opportunities available in the construction industry and to promote the industry as a safe, exciting and rewarding career option. It is also designed to increase the awareness and visibility of the construction industry in the community and to encourage others to join the industry.
“As leaders in the construction industry, we understand the responsibility and opportunity to share what exciting career opportunities exist in our industry and it starts right here in our own backyard”, said Randy Clarahan, General Manager, Iowa Office.
