Sojourner Family Peace Center and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin developed a coordinated, centralized, co-located model of services for families impacted by violence in their community, known as the Sojourner Family Peace Center.
The 72,000 SF Center houses Sojourner Family Peace Center programming, including Sojourner Truth House, which is the agency’s 24-hour crisis shelter. It also houses spaces for the Child Protection Center and other Children's Hospital of Wisconsin child abuse services. This provides a more integrated system of services to adults and children who sadly have to deal with the effects of domestic violence. The Center is one of the first in the nation to house holistic services to victims of all ages. By combining services currently provided in three distinct locations into the new Sojourner Family Peace Center, the burdens are eased for both the victim and the community. This increases the chance to break the cycle of violence and create peace in the community.
