
Brent Bergland
Vice President of Project Development | Energy Storage
Brent Bergland is a 29-year veteran of Mortenson and the construction industry. He is currently the current Vice President, Project Development of the Energy Storage group. For 10 years, Brent has been leading Mortenson’s Energy Storage business and implements strategies across multiple segments and regions.
Brent was the first Energy Storage team member when the company launched the market sector in 2015 and has been involved in every one of its more than 40 projects. Recently, he has taken on a new role in overseeing the company’s newest market, Data Centers + Energy.
Brent thrives on the complexities and challenges of exploring new markets and believes the energy storage industry has enormous potential across a wide range of applications. Brent’s experience building complex, utility-scale energy projects across the United States, Canada, and Australia has provided him a unique know-how in the industry.
Forming strong customer relationships is at the heart of what Brent does at Mortenson. He understands that building trust, maintaining open communication, and delivering promises are the foundation for long-term partnerships. Most of Mortenson’s energy storage work comes from repeat customers, which speaks to the commitment to exceptional service and collaboration Brent provides as a key liaison between Mortenson and our customers.
Brent strives to serve as a true partner and an extension of our customer’s team, always focused on customer goals and success. By working closely together, he anticipates needs and provides solutions that add real value. Whether it’s through regular check-ins, transparent project updates, or simply being available, Brent makes it a priority to keep the lines of communication open and honest.
Brent holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from North Dakota State University. He is a native Minnesotan, having grown up in Maple Plain and currently resides in Saint Paul with his wife Raina and firecracker daughter, Kensley. Brent enjoys Formula 1, traveling, and spending time at his family’s lake home in west central Minnesota.
