Darren Conlee

Market Director | Power Delivery

With nearly 30 years of construction experience, Darren is a key leader for the Power Delivery group as a Market Director. He is highly skilled in developing strategies that drive business growth by building lasting relationships, understanding market priorities, and identifying potential disruptors. Darren influences all aspects of the project life cycle, leveraging Mortenson’s comprehensive solutions to meet market needs. 

Darren graduated from Iowa State University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering. 

After starting his career as a superintendent for a local general contractor in central Iowa, Darren joined Mortenson in 1998 as a site supervisor with the Communication Technologies group. He progressed from site superintendence to project engineering and project management at numerous locations around the United States. His primary work was on telecommunications switch facilities before transitioning to lead a major hospital addition and renovation project in Pierre, South Dakota. 

Darren joined Mortenson’s Federal Contracting Group in 2006, leading several successful projects for the group across multiple states, including the $140 million Fort Bliss, Texas Company Operations Facilities and the $40 million First Infantry Headquarters in Fort Riley, Kansas.

Darren moved to Minneapolis in 2013 and served as a Project Executive, Director of Preconstruction, and eventually General Manager overseeing the federal business. In September of 2024, Darren started a new role as Market Director for Mortenson's Power Delivery group, bringing extensive design-build EPC facilities experience to the team. Darren is a servant leader, committed to achieving success through and with others, and stewarding our business by developing future leaders.

In his free time, Darren enjoys traveling, golfing, and spending time with his family.
