SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead that will provide day-to-day operational leadership and subject matter expertise for the Accounts Payable team. Support the delivery of accurate, timely, and consistent accounts payable services through training, auditing, workload coordination, systems testing, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Act as a resource for team members, business partners, and leadership while promoting alignment with company policies, service level expectations, and departmental goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership and Development
- Coordinate onboarding, training, cross-training, and knowledge sharing across the Accounts Payable team.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and process support to promote consistency, service quality, and operational excellence.
- Support daily workload coordination, queue monitoring, escalation resolution, and team communications.
- Quality, Compliance, and Controls
- Review transactions and processes to support accuracy, consistency, and compliance with departmental procedures, internal controls, and financial governance requirements.
- Identify trends, recurring errors, control concerns, and process gaps; recommend corrective actions and escalate significant risks as appropriate.
- Systems, Process Improvement, and Performance Reporting
- Lead or support testing activities for Accounts Payable systems, including regression testing, enhancements, break fix efforts, upgrades, and new technology implementations.
- Identify and support process improvements, automation opportunities, technology adoption, and best practices.
- Assist with department metrics, performance indicators, reporting, and special assignments as requested.
- Perform other duties and special assignments as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 4 years of Accounts Payable experience required.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, controls, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
- Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Oracle, Kofax, Vertex, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise systems preferred.

The base pay range for this role is $35.53 - $47.98. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
