Senior Project Buyer – BLU54
SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking a Senior Project Buyer – BLU54 that will support project teams by working with suppliers to purchase materials, equipment and services. This project management role focuses on purchasing, logistics and schedule coordination, supplier relationships, risk assessment and financial reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
- Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
- Create and maintain procurement logs for each project to order status from the time of placing the order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
- Prepare purchase agreements and purchase orders. Ensure suppliers adhere to contractual terms and conditions, including timeliness and quality standards.
- Facilitate and run meetings internally and externally
- Enter purchase agreements and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis

- Visit job sites or offices to better understand project team challenges and develop streamlined procurement processes to be implemented
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- All other duties as assigned
- Work with managers to develop profitable purchasing strategies and propose procurement solutions that deliver value and reduce risk
- Establish and maintain existing and new relationships with suppliers, including data analysis on quality, spend, and trends.
- Identify and implement strategic initiatives
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring for Associate and Project Buyers (may include managing)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management, or related discipling or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- 4+ years of procurement experience and/or experience in a similar role
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal, and communication skills
- Strong customer service and analytical skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
- Proficient with the Microsoft suite
- Experience working with industry-related software (Oracle, Procore, Smartsheet, and/or other related software)
- Current driver's license
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and materials, purchasing processes, and procedures (preferred)
- Project Management experience (preferred)
- Understanding of the construction industry (preferred)
The base pay range for this role is $85,300 - $128,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
