Maria Bumgarner Named 2016 ACE-ENR Outstanding Mentor

A jury of 2015’s Outstanding Mentors selected Maria Bumgarner as a 2016 ACE-ENR Outstanding Mentor. Maria, along with mentors from Boston, San Diego, Orlando, Indianapolis and Jacksonville were formally presented with the award on Monday, April 25 in Washington, DC. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the spring meeting of the ACE National Board and the finals of the National Design Competition.

"By regularly rubbing shoulders with the students, mentors expose them to the real world of the design and construction industry, and they excite them to pursue careers in our industry. In short, mentors are what make ACE special and successful" said Scott Seltz, publisher of ENR, at the ACE-ENR Outstanding Mentor Award ceremony.

The Outstanding Mentor’s contributions to students, fellow mentors, and affiliates exemplify the dedication and effectiveness of ACE’s nearly 2,500 mentors. Each of the mentor’s affiliates will receive a $2,000 student scholarship to be named in their honor.
