On Tuesday, March 6, Marquette University's Athletic and Human Performance Research Center officially broke ground!
The new $24 million, 46,000-square-foot center - which will be built in phases as part of the university's ongoing campus master plan - will include faculty research space; locker rooms and support space for the school's lacrosse program and golf team; human performance research labs; and strength and conditioning facilities for MU's athletic department, which is headquartered at the McGuire Center.
Over 100 people gathered on the corner of 12th and Wells including dignitaries, Marquette leadership, student athletes, donors, and the project team. During a brief ceremony, remarks were given from Marquette board members, Marquette's vice president for research and innovation, Marquette's director of athletics, a student athlete, and President Dr. Lovell. Prior to breaking ground, Rev. Nicky Santos, S.J., said a blessing for the project and all who will be be involved with building it.
