The EvergreenHealth 2‑Silver Surgery Expansion is a major capital improvement project delivered using the GC/CM method, with an estimated cost of $115 million. Located on EvergreenHealth’s Kirkland campus, the project is designed to modernize and expand critical surgical, cardiac, and endoscopy services while maintaining continuous hospital operations throughout construction.
The scope encompasses three primary work areas. The largest component is the build‑out of approximately 73,000 square feet of existing shell space to create a new surgical suite, including seven operating rooms, six catheterization labs, one hybrid operating room, and associated prep, recovery, and support spaces. Additional scope includes modernization of approximately 5,000 square feet of existing C‑section operating rooms to meet current codes and best practices, requiring installation of new rooftop mechanical infrastructure. The third work area includes renovation of approximately 15,000 square feet to establish new endoscopy procedural suites, providing five procedure rooms along with prep, recovery, scope processing, and support spaces.
The project is being phased to minimize disruption to ongoing patient care and requires extensive coordination related to infection control, logistics, and sequencing within an occupied healthcare environment. Mortenson will collaborate closely with EvergreenHealth and NBBJ to support cost control, schedule adherence, constructability, and early procurement strategies. The team will also leverage detailed planning, stakeholder alignment, and proactive risk management to navigate site constraints, maintain safe operations, and ensure seamless integration of new systems with existing hospital infrastructure.
